Aminal Dolls - from their world, for their world

What are Fair Trade Toys?

Fair Trade Toys

Aminals, created by Dreaming Lion LLC, are manufactured using cruelty-free practices. This means that they are made from materials that are safer for the environment. It also means that the manufacturing conditions are in line with fair trade policies. What does it mean to make fair trade toys?

The company is certified under two internationally recognized bodies, SKAL and GOTS, that regulate humane, safe and hygienic working conditions during the entirety of the manufacturing process.

  • There is no forced labor - this is very strictly enforced and monitored.
  • Workers may leave their jobs at any time and have the right to form or join unions for their own protection and benefit.
  • Child labor is forbidden - this is strictly enforced and monitored.
  • Wages and benefits must meet national labor or industry standards; if these are different, the higher standard must be met.
  • Working hours must comply with national laws or industry standards, whichever provide the greatest protection (the higher standard must always be met).
  • There is no discrimination in hiring, compensation, etc. based on race, national origin, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation or any other irrelevant criteria.
  • Aminals are certified fair trade toys that adhere to all of the above standards, and more.

More about GOTS

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. It is a combined effort between the Organic Trade Association, Soil Association, IVN and JOCA to unify standards globally so that manufacturers from various countries can market their products appropriately as organic and fair trade, and so that consumers can be assured the products they are seeking out are in fact produced in a cruelty-free fashion. The GOTS lays down requirements for raw material harvesting, production and processing up through the packaging, labeling, and import/export of finished products.
